Objective
DredwardsVR Consulting Inc. was engaged by Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories to create practical and empathetic training that goes beyond traditional professional development by equipping publicly facing workers across multiple sectors with the motivation, knowledge, and skills to interact effectively with individuals with dementia and their care partners.
Actions
- Conducted a competency analysis with experts and stakeholders to define learner outcomes and profiles.
- Designed curriculum using the proprietary “Engage, Equip, Empower” model, incorporating community-informed content, applied activities, and performance assessments.
- Developed and storyboarded content (text, media, resources, assessments) optimized for multiple delivery formats.
- Built and tested the course in WordPress’s LearnDash LMS.
Outcome
The training program launches in September 2025 with an introductory module that builds empathy through storytelling, empowers action through practical skills, and inspires learners to become lifelong ambassadors for dementia-supportive communities. The scalable framework provides a foundation for future courses and continuous improvement, supporting the broader vision of transforming communities into inclusive, dementia-friendly spaces.
