Found in the Fjords

Winner of multiple awards (Best Sound Design and Use of New Technology at The Art of Movie Making awards (2023) and UN Metaverse for the SDGs competition), Found in the Fjords was inspired by a life-changing expedition to Arctic Norway in November 2022.

Take a leap into frigid Arctic waters and experience firsthand how the orca of the North Atlantic are adapting to a changing ocean and changing planet. You will become a juvenile orca experiencing your first winter in Norway’s Arctic fjords as you learn how to navigate the threats and opportunities brought by the annual winter herring run and others competing for its rich bounty.

You must learn, from your mom and the rest of the family pod, everything you need to survive and thrive.

Discover the magnificence of these misunderstood marine mammals and explore ways to conserve them, their ecosystem and, through that, our planet.

It’s Only Me, Bear

An early prototype of a bear spray deployment simulation designed to support bear awareness and safety. I will be working with local bear experts so that the simulation accurately reflects bear behaviours and encourages sustainable and thoughtful wilderness practices.

Elevator to the Centre of the Earth

A VR experience that journeys through the layers of the Earth, introducing players to the processes that shape our planet and the tools used by earth scientists to uncover its secrets. Recently updated to use Unity’s XR Interaction Toolkit for multi-platform functionality.

An overdue update to the elevator and shaft aesthetics

XR Developer Coursework

A selection of my coursework from the Circuit Stream 10-week XR developer course. The course included combination of VR and AR development in Unity (using Vuforia and AR Foundation). Worked on a number of scenes that showcased various XR functionality such as interactions, locomotion, and animations.

Mr. Magma

Mr. Magma was born over a decade ago when I put together a very lo-fi animation for a presentation during my PhD. He has been resurrected and given a bit of a glow up to feature in Elevator to the Centre of the Earth where he will eventually act as a guide.

Geologist’s Toolkit

A number of geologist’s tools that I built in Blender for use in Elevator to the Centre of the Earth. The complex materials were built using photographs of my own tools and Adobe Substance Sampler

Rich and Robby

An exploration of Blender 3D and a brief dalliance with animation for a birthday gift for my big brother – host of wicked sci-fi podcast, Robby the Robot’s Waiting.
